Short Play Writing Competition Rules

1. The Competition theme is "Peace and Conflict Resolution." Entries should touch on issues that discuss and/or 'problematize' this theme.

2. Only original unpublished works will be accepted. A short play does not exceed one hour when it is staged, usually written in the form of a one-act play. Stage play, tele-play and radio play formats will all be accepted.

3. Anyone can join. Students of the University of the Philippines and other schools and universities are encouraged to submit as many entries as they wish.

4. Winning entries remain under the sole ownership of the author. However, participation in the competition entitles Dulaang UP-Baguio to select and use entries in university-based activities and publications.

5. Scripts can be in English or Tagalog. Works in other Filipino languages will be accepted if a translation to English or Tagalog is provided by the author.

6. A work that has won a prize in another competition is not eligible.

7. Submission of an entry is an indication that the author guarantees he/she has absolute ownership of the work and that he/she agrees to abide by the competition rules and the decision of the board of judges.

8. All entries should bear the author's name, address, school (if applicable), contact numbers and email address.

9. Three winners--first, second and third-- will be announced on the 18th of September. The awarding ceremony will take place on the 21st of September, in a program celebrating the day as the United Nations International Day of Peace. Each winner will receive a plaque and cash prize. Non-winners may request a certificate of participation for academic and other legal purposes only.

10. Deadline for submission of entries is on the 15th of September 2010. Email your entries to dulaangupb@gmail.com.
